These reusable, breathable, cloth nursing pads are made from a top layer of fabric (see fabrics page), multiple layers of hemp and bamboo terry and are backed in water-resistant fleece. They measure about 4½".

Our most popular top layer for nursing pads is raw silk or silk noil. Silk Noil is said to be antibacterial and have natural healing properties due to the sericin which is a wax left by the silkworm. Silk Noil should be left in the natural form as dyes can strip away the sericin. Silk Noil is often used as a diaper liner to help prevent diaper rashes, panty liners to prevent yeast infections or nursing pads to help dry, cracked nipples and to help prevent breast infections. It also acts as a stay-dry layer pulling moisture away from the skin into the absorbent core. Silk Noil is a nubby fabric which can have specks of color in it and will soften over time. These can be washed with the rest of your laundry.
